Something about calling Crystal Antlers a "psych-punk" band just doesn't do them justice. The Long Beach quintet's howl-at-the-sun desert jazz might be one of the best entries in our unannounced "Save Rock Music in 2009" contest, and the organs they've spread all over their debut album Tentacles (Touch and Go) sound like lava flows spewing from Mt. Billy Preston. "Andrew" is the first MP3 to be released from the record, a 6/4 stumble through minor chord mirth that, for a band we're pretty sure doesn't mess with the Jesus, sounds pretty fire and brimstone and all that. Tentacles hits iTunes today and drops at physical retailers on April 7th.
