EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Mammút - Svenfsykt + Video
While news of economic trouble has dominated much of the recent talk around Iceland, the country's music scene remains as vibrant and fertile as ever. Case and point: Rekjavik-based Mammút, a quintet of two gents and three ladies that has been perfecting a potent brand of fuzz-heavy indie rock since they formed as teenagers in 2003. This past August, they released their second album Kakari to pretty stellar reception, nabbing a bunch of Icelandic Music Award noms and significant radio play on the capital's only rock station, X-ID 977. "Svenfsykt" is one of those big tunes, a driving bit of downtuned power riffing and breathless--dare we say, Bjork-ian--vocals from lead singer Kata. It's available exclusively for download here at RCRD LBL, accompanied by some recent studio footage of the band from Reykjavik.
Sounds like: Queens Of The Stone Age, Cruel Black Dove, The Sugarcubes
