Before diving headfirst into music production, Rone (Erwan Castex to his friends) was a dedicated filmmaker. It's fitting, then, the young Parisian producer's lush compositions are imbued with a similarly cinematic scope and meticulous attention to detail. His debut album, Spanish Breakfast, drifts by like a series of painstakingly composed shots, each more sumptuous and dreamy than the one before it. Wrapping listeners in soft ambient tones and deploying phased, bittersweet melodies to tickle their ears, the title cut captures Rone’s wistful aesthetic in just a few chilled minutes.
