EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Polite Sleeper - Three Easy Steps

While John Darnielle is busy writing books about Black Sabbath and stuff, others are clamoring for his crown of wordy folkisms, and Polite Sleeper--a self-dubbed "folk mess" from Brooklyn--are strong candidates for succession. A trio with heavy punk roots and decidedly unangry aesthetics, they've been quietly releasing records (one EP and a full-length) of simple, home-recorded material through European label Sabotage and on their own in the States. We've been hooked up with "Three Easy Steps," a simple strummer from their new album that's punctuated with tapped drum rims and the occasional snare shot.
Tomorrow Polite Sleeper will be opening up for RCRD LBL friends White Rabbits at the second of two sold-out shows at New York's Mercury Lounge. Who happens to be playing records at both shows? Yours truly and our esteemed Creative Director, Elliot Aronow. Synergy, guys. Synergy.
Sounds like: The Mountain Goats, The Weakerthans, The Dodos
