On January 22nd, Charlie Cooper--one-half of Chicago/New Orleans electronica act Telefon Tel Aviv--passed away suddenly at the age of 31. His death occurred just days before TTA's fantastic new album Immolate Yourself hit stores through Bpitch Control, an unfortunate but marvelous swan song from a very talented and prolific producer. Our pals at Ghostly, who knew Charlie well through his connections in the Midwest electronic music community and TTA's contributions to Ghostly's catalog, wanted to offer up a special track in his memory, so they sent over TTA's remix of the Midwest Product track "A Genuine Display," from their Idol Tryouts comp, a beautifully unfolding number built around some itchy trip-hop rhythms and euphoric, saline effects.
