A mix of loose twanging blues and gritty classic rock, this track is delicately woozy and yet full of muscle, with prominent pedal steel guitar and crashing drums. It's off The Heartless Bastards' new album The Mountain, to be released February 3rd on Fat Possum Records. Inspired Ohio-born singer/songwriter/guitarist Erika Wennerstrom moved to Austin to write the new album and collaborate with producer Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Trail of Dead). Six months later, she churned out The Mountain that sounds birthed in patient porch-sitting and a bit of lonesome - while remaining in the same blues-rock league as label mates The Black Keys and fellow Austinites The Black Angels. Taste test below.
