EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Fires Of Rome - 17
.jpg)
The Great Fire of Rome burned fierce through the city for six days and seven nights. Though that was in 64 CE and the damage was extensive because houses were built from wood, the metaphor for the New York-based band Fires Of Rome is obvious: They want to be remembered for powerful doses of rock and roll.
Good thing their new album You Kingdom You--out on the Paris-NY label The Hours (home of Cazals)--has similar bravado. This song "17" is an ambitious, almost schizophrenic track that adopts manifold styles. It starts off like one of those glam-rock bands that beasted through CBGBs in the late 80s (craving to be the next NY Dolls), then there’s a cathartic, slowly psychedelic refrain before the track flips again to a pop-centric, dance-friendly finale. Needless to say, it packs a punch.
Sounds like: MINK, Dead Kennedys, Semi Precious Weapons

I never would have compared
I never would have compared Dead Kennedy's and Fires of Rome but it does make sense. Also, I really dig the metaphor between Rome's fiery fall and Fires of Rome's desire to create a similar impact. Dynamite shit. Keep showing love.
