EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Micachu - Lips (LV Remix) + Original

The finer pillars of the UK music press are pretty much wild over Micachu at the moment and it's not too hard to see why. Combining a 'matey boy' London swagger much older than Mica Levi's 21 years with a sparse, atomised, eccentric arrangement style, Levi's "Lips" is one of the shorter bursts from debut album Jewellery, a bathroom sink whirpool of banjos, samples and stomping guitar fuzz that doesn't quite live a minute. Remixer LV, who calls the gleaming cathedral that is Hyperdub home, strings it out into a loping bass wander that eventually stumbles upon steel pans and arcane African percussion, conjuring images of a distant London summer. Jewellery, completed with the considerable help of Levi's band The Shapes (Raisa Kahn on keys, Marc Pell on drums), was supposed to be released February 2nd, but will now arrive in April.
