VIDEO THRWBCK: The Equals - Baby Come Back (1966)
Thinking about playing records in a few weeks had me spinning this 1966 heater from the Equals all weekend. Back in their day, the Equals were major. Not only for their awesome threads (I'd venture to say only Love looked cooler) but for the fact that they were a reggae/pop/rock band with working class black and white members—something the then very unhip record industry couldn't really hang with. Anyways, this was a big record that went on to sell over 1M copies and sorta helped to set the scene for the Specials. It's pretty un-fuckwithable and if you don't dig it you are probably too white or too old. Enjoy!
PS - I almost forgot to the mention that this was Eddy Grant of "Electric Avenue" fame's first band!
