VIDEO THRWBCK: The Slits - Typical Girls (1979)
I saw a much older, reformed version of The Slits play at the Knitting Factory a couple of years ago and it could've quite possibly been the most unorganized and awkward show I've ever seen, with long, long passages of unintelligible audience banter from Ari Up and a run-through of songs that would only have impressed their less-competent, thirty-years-ago selves. But you know what? That's what I expected from The Slits and I thought they were great. Never a musician's band, watching them now makes me realize how much Madonna totally bit their style. If you don't own Cut go get a copy immediately.
