They sound nothing like The Black Kids, a bit like The Black Angels, but no worries, you'll remember The Black Keys more for their fuzzed-out shock rock than their 'blacklisted' name. Though their album Attack and Release was clutch, it had the help of Danger Mouse's midas touch, and was birthed deep in their home state of Ohio’s heartland. So it's live that they prove the gutteral power of their gritty blues-soaked rock, sans production fine-tuning and the comfort of a comfort zone. This track off their new live CD, "The Black Keys Live at the Crystal Ballroom," (recorded during a sold-out Portland show) reveals the unfiltered ferocity of The Black Keys's greasy rock and roll.
