EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Futureheads - Broke Up The Time (Field Music Remix)

The great thing about keeping things minimal is the amount of terrain you leave untouched. When The Futureheads returned with their third album earlier this year, it was a great, belligerent, unharnessed thing - four men looking back and waggling eight outstretched fingers vigorously toward a second album the band themselves have admitted was difficult. It felt right then to ramp things up. Correct. Since remixing "Broke Up The Time" for 500 slabs of vinyl released this time last year, Futureheads' Sunderland brothers Field Music have gone on hiatus. Their reworking pares the track down in a way The Futureheads may've done themselves if things had turned out different for both acts; removing the rock'n'roll bluster, taking the post-punk rhythms still at the quartet's root and propelling them ahead into dark, noughties clubland - into new terrain, with a bump'n'grind F.U. hollered backwards from a parallel universe.
