Um, weather.com says it's '29 degrees C in NYC but feels like 20 degrees C.' But according to our senses, it feels sub-zero and pretty intensely miserable. (i.e. A simple stroll from home to the subway feels like a grueling trek through Alaskan tundra.) Luckily, this song "Grey Weather" is a perfect reprieve from this crisp, winter day. An ambient-textured lullaby, Meredith Godreau's vocals are soothing and sublime, while simple steady guitar and instrumental accompaniment builds a stark and pure landscape that buttresses the lyrics. Think if the vocalist from The Carigans met PJ Harvey and then took a trip to Finland, where they were inspired by Sigur Ros and the land of the midnight sun.
