VIDEO THRWBCK: One Last Wish - My Better Half (Live) [1986]

The brief existence of Washington, D.C.'s One Last Wish--a band composed of former Rites Of Spring members Guy Picciotto, Brendan Canty, and Edward Janney alongside former Faith and Embrace guitarist Michael Hampton--still rendered an album (1986, co-produced by Ian MacKaye) that I think is the most constantly overlooked gem of the Dischord discography. Named after the year it was recorded in but never officially released until 1999, the record is the fundamental step between Rites Of Spring's rawer sentiments and the more refined stuff that Picciotto, Canty, and Mackaye would go on to make in Fugazi. Basically, it sounds like they finally admitted they were also listening to Thin Lizzy and Jimi Hendrix records on the side and wanted to try something new. This footage of OLW playing at an Animal Liberation benefit is a glimpse into what they were like live. You can buy a (strongly-recommended) copy of the album over the Dischord site.
