DOWNLOAD: Deer Tick - Art Isn't Real (City Of Sin)

The first I heard of Deer Tick (a loose-tied collective surrounding Rhode Island songwriter John McCauley) was their admittedly great cover of Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," a take that stole J.R. Rotem's bastardization of Ben E. King back for those of us with, you know, taste. "Art Isn't Real (City Of Sin)" continues their salty sojurns into road songs about being old and drunk and how much that can be tiring, even though the Brillo-voiced McCauley hasn't even celebrated two dozen birthdays. If the Drive-By Truckers had spent their teens drinking the warm beer at Todd P shows in Brooklyn, they would probably sound a bit like this.

Partisan Records will be re-releasing Deer Tick's debut album War Elephant tomorrow, November 11. You can pre-order it from Insound.

Sounds like: The Felice Brothers, Justin Townes Earle, Patterson Hood

Liked War Elephant but I

Liked War Elephant but I felt it was a bit sporadic. Could have cut out a few songs but overall he's someone to definitely keep an eye on.
