DOWNLOAD: Trust Us...A Long Beach Comp: Crystal Antlers, Dios (Malos), Free Moral Agents
Located twenty minutes south of Los Angeles in the shadow of an immense shipping harbor, Long Beach, CA has never managed to stand apart, musically speaking, from its neighboring metropolis (just think for a second about how many people would probably say, when asked, that Snoop is from LA. A lot, I would imagine.) But more recently bands have rallied around a local venue called Alex’s Bar, a place that has, somewhat like LA’s The Smell, reignited a young and vibrant musical community simply by opening their doors to local bands. Trust Us, a compilation of Long Beach artists put together by the good people Fidotrust Records, is a document of that scene. We’re offering three selections from the comp’s twenty-three-strong tracklist for download; cuts from groups like Free Moral Agents, funkadelia sensei Crystal Antlers, and the sunny-eyed hippies in Dios (Malos). They all feature some pretty heavy organ work, so maybe we can cosign on that being part of the LB sound. Everyone digs B3s, right?
