DOWNLOAD: DJ Mujava - Township Funk (Kingdom's 1 In A Million Remix)

Aside from being one of the most deejayed-out tracks in a minute, DJ Mujava’s “Township Funk” single has introduced the EDM community at large (read: Europe) to kwaito, the South African brand of pitched-down house and hip-hop that has been a large part of the country’s turbulent music scene for the past decade-plus. Our good buddies at Warp scooped up the track's stuttering beat and dripping heart monitor synthesizer for a twelve-inch release (nab that here), and, of course, the subsequent remixes have started to flood in. Warp shot us over one from Brooklyn everyman Kingdom—who we’ve talked about before—and he speeds up the original’s tempo in order to drop Aaliyah’s “One In A Million” a capella over it, a trick we weren’t expecting at all but actually works out pretty well. Throw in some Bmore breaks, a couple vocoder flourishes, and dude has made this tune into a trans-global loft burner.

If you're in or around the UK or France this week, make sure to go out and see Mujava if you can. He's playing four rare European slots and these sets will likely be crammed with incredible tunes you've never heard before, full info over at his MySpace.

This remix completely destroys the sheer awesomeness of the original.

Stay far away.
