EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Holy Hail - Minute Man

The opening riff of “Minute Man,” an exclusive non-album track from Holy Hail bestowed to us by the fine people at Kanine Records, sounds like a Czech ambulance wail. Seriously, spend any amount of time in Prague and you will hear those sounds whiz back and forth throughout all hours of the night, waking up many a beer-logged mind. But it’s cool, you know? They’re melodic, not the kill-your-eardrums blasts of noise that we have here in the States. While their ambulance riff lingers in the background, Holy Hail push through the rest of this genre-hopping track with ease, touching on some sung-spoke raps and breakbeats, some propulsive New Order dance rhythms and background keys, and yet always managing to make the song sound punk but not overtly so. As I was blaring this on loop this morning, my roomate mentioned that “whenever we take a road trip, this song needs to be on the playlist.” Couldn't have put it better.

Holy Hail play the Kanine Records party tomorrow at Public Assembly (formerly Galapagos) in Brooklyn, flyer after the links. More upcoming shows over at their MySpace.

Sounds like: New Order, The Juan Maclean, Chairlift
