Unlike most of their ed banging and teenagering Parisian brethren, Thieves Like Us deal in subtlety. Maybe that's 'cause they're not from Paris (the two Swedes and one American originally met in Berlin). Their Joy Division-copping electronica is digestible and unpretentious, the kind of solo dance party stuff you reserve for your time getting dressed after a really, really, really long shower on an overcast day. Basically, just enough pep to get you out of the house and doing stuff but nothing to overly excite you for the grey skies above. We’ve just signed the group to RCRD LBL and are uber-stoked to be releasing their first track with us, a throbbing come-down séance called “Desire.” If you think the Teenagers are kind of corny but still buy things at American Apparel once in awhile, these guys are right up your alley. Their album Play Music hits download services tomorrow in America, Austrailia, and New Zealand, and gets a digital and physical release in Europe on November 7 and 15, respectively.
