EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Fredrik - 1986 + Black Fur
.jpg)
Sweden’s Fredrik are drenched in optimism and so their music is some beautiful blue and green avant-folk watercolor stuff for weary folk. Seriously, it feels like this music was specifically written to make its listeners feel better: major chord plucking on acoustics and mandolins, some ballad snare rolls and a melody that would be appropriate at a campfire or assembly. Riffing on the air-sucking pop of Jens Lekman and Sufjan Stevens but with some fleshy orchestration thrown in from well-connected friends in the Swedish avant-pop underground, Fredrik began as a side-project for The LK’s Fredrik and Lindfelt and has since spiraled into a six-strong troupe of well-wishers and do-gooders. Their US debut Na Na Ni hits shelves on the 28th through The Kora, from which “1986” (available exclusively here) and “Black Fur” have been drawn. Take two with water.
