DOWNLOAD: Historics - Taverns

Oh no, you say, not another band out of LA that have a skull in their promo picture. But I promise you, this one is worth paying attention to. I'd listen to the attached song "Taverns" for the following reasons:
a) the lead electric guitar lines are the blissed out, finger-fluttering type that replace a second vocal line- like a sweet aria-
b) voice = Ben Gibbard meets Jeff Tweedy meets Kurt Cobain
c) The (abnormally, immensely long) bio mentions how aerosol spray cans were used "in place of a hi-hats" and "how fat fingers hit heavily on a floor tom with a blown out mic sound like thunder."
d) The band include members of Maroon 5 (what!) (Mickey Madden - bass), Vietnam (WHAT!?!!) (Josh Grubb- guitar ) and Icarus Line (Oh.) (Don Devore -vocals). Best part is: you'd never know it.
e) Some of the album was written in their friends (and narly tight band) Earl Greyhound's Dumbo studio.
f) The music makes me think of.................laying back in sun and smoking weed and watch the smoke curls predict the future. Nuf said.
Sounds Like: Wilco, Yo La Tengo, Vietnam
