DOWNLOAD: Frances - All The While
There is something utterly monumental about a band playing one note on one beat over and over again. Usually, this happens at the end of a tune, drawing out the energy to a tumultuous, unified climax. But Frances doesn’t roll like that. The recent Gigantic signees open their new single “All The While” with swelling blasts of together-sound, propped-up with some strings and dainty piano. It’s like that almost all the way through, lulling underneath when it’s not out there in the front, always falling back in line after breaking rank for a few pop inflections. Think the Arcade Fire if they let loose a little bit on those tempos and actually got some, you know, swing.
