EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Annuals - Hot Night Hounds

The key word here is epic: Annuals don't do anything on a small scale. Every track seems designed to be played at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, blaring from a gigantic rolling stage. Our exclusive "Hot Night Hounds" is another maximalist vamp: it's the first track the band wrote for their new record Such Fun, and its obvious that they came to the table with an embarrassment of ideas and influences. It opens with Right-Here-Right-Now piano and drops into a drum pattern that cycles throughout, interrupted only briefly by an approaching storm (literally) and a mass of confused voices. While the bands listed below are obvious antecedents, it also sounds a hell of a lot like Jane's Addiction, with its soupy mix of guitars, effects, and the choir of the damned. You've gotta admire that sort of more-is-more approach.
Sounds Like: The Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Flaming Lips
