EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Glasvegas - Geraldine

What little I know about Glasvegas I've read in bold and exclamatory NME headlines, mostly regarding their recent chart battle in the UK with a band you might’ve heard of called Metallica. Though they failed to beat those rich dudes to the top of the UK album charts, what an achievement for four Scots who play simple, attractive, and cavernous rock and roll; like their obvious heroes The Jesus And Mary Chain with less makeup and some time spent with Dr. Phil. “Geraldine” is what most would call an “anthem”: skyward melodies and a I-V-IV progression that matches its lead, cascading down every measure like a winded Ramones phrase that's just run a marathon. Personally speaking, its best moment comes when singer James Allan embellishes his accent on the word “shoulder” and manages to make it sound adolescent and huge, like we are walking hand-in-hand with this Scottish dude into the set of What Dreams May Come.

The band just made landfall in the States for the first time and for the next couple days they’ll be playing East Coast rooms much smaller than they’re used to at home. Dates below the links.

Sounds like: The Jesus And Mary Chain, Editors, Nada Surf
