A lot of people loved Sacramento-via-NYC band Out Hud and wondered what members have been up to since they called it quits a few years ago, and this new track from cellist/vocalist Molly Shnick's new project Jean on Jean should help clear up a tiny bit of that confusion. Schnick has enlisted aid from Rafael Cohen (aka RCRD LBL's Las Palabras) and Eric Emm (1/2 of production duo The Brothers), and she's used the accompaniment to great effect. "Tonight" is a carefully constructed pop song that manages the feat of sounding both expansive and intimate, using cello, guitar, drums and synthesizers to sketch out a rousing backdrop to the multi-tracked vocals. "Cinematic" is a heavy weight to lay on any song, but I think the storyboard lyrics and Morricone flourishes of this one merit the use. I already have my short film worked out; now its your turn.

Sounds Like: Foreign Born, Grizzly Bear, Okkervil River
