Meet Big Blood. Based in Portland, Maine, married duo Coleen and Caleb Mulkerin have been sharing their phosphorescent brainlight in that oft forgotten scene for a minute. Once members of art rock collective Cerberus Shoal, the two splintered off and did the unthinkable—they had a BABY. Her name is Quinnisa Rose and in addition to becoming sort of a familial/band mascot, she features prominently in the cover art for both of the Americanafied tracks we are most honored to share with you today. "In The Shade" takes the snap and pop of a great Kinks chord progression and covers it in vines, while "The Grove" ditches freak folk territory for dirty fingernails psych dirge. If and when I start a family, I'd like us to sound exactly like this.
