GIRLS (nyc) is the brainchild of Johnny and Mikey.  In the shadows of New York City they have recorded an album of 9 darkly haunting and visceral songs that wouldn't have seemed out of place on the Control soundtrack.  Within Sunday Child, GIRLS go from the bombast of "Gottogetaway" to the hypnotically brooding "And If You Go" with every snarl, sigh and synth in place to create dark world all their own.  Picking just 2 songs to introduce GIRLS is tricky since the album as a whole is so impressive.  Few people have been invited into Johnny and Mikey's world and here is your warning: don't sleep on GIRLS.  Stream some other songs on their MySpace, grab these two tunes, because while this is probably the first you've heard of this band, it won't be the last.
