EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: The End Of The World - Jody

There is nothing apocalyptic or destructive about The End Of The World. There is nothing even controversial about them. They have a story, but it’s like most others (two friends meet and form a band, go through legions of bass players in the process). They play guitars, write songs with major chords and sing them with a scruffy tenor honed from listening to John Wesley Harding over and over again. They're unassuming twilight tunes, the kind of ease-your-mind shit you need after listening to Throbbing Gristle or The Birthday Party. Not everything in your iTunes has to be so difficult.
“Jody” is an exclusive first look at The End Of The World’s new sophomore album French Exit, out November 11 through Flameshovel. Like the Walkmen’s “Little House Of Savages” if it lost the Harlem slumming and whining organ, “Jody” packs a snare crescendo at the end of every measure, sliding its rhythm into pogo-friendly territory. Check the track below, and catch the band live in New York over the next week, info at their MySpace.
