In the United States, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons have finally graduated from permit to license, putting in a whole sixteen years behind the turntables, samplers, and massive racks of analog synths that have constructed their classic big-beat anthems as The Chemical Brothers. In celebration of their history the Manchester twosome have compiled Brotherhood, their second, most expansive collection of singles to date, which finally hit stores yesterday through Astralwerks. Not included on the comp but available here for stream is a new Soulwax version of the Bros’ 1999 single “Hey Boy Hey Girl”, packing the originals peak-time screech and adding the obligatory Soulwax wide-filter Moog and classic Belgian techno stomp. Two packs of European brothers + one decade-old dancefloor smash = best way to destroy your eardrums on a Wednesday morning.
