We all need a little love. “Self-Taught Learner”, a demo from the unsigned New York songstresss, is a stable slab of downtown pop, steadily climbing through some verses until its arching refrain, Lissy shouting “Oh, I want to die with you, oh oh oh,” over and over until you find yourself humming along to her morose musings because she sounds so genuinely pleased about the notion.
