We're definitely getting to that point in the summer when no matter how much I think I've grown out of it, I get bummed out every single time I bump into a back-to-school ad. How shitty and frustrating was that to see when you were a kid? Jesus Christ. They start SO EARLY and there's absolutely nowhere to run. My blood pressure spikes just thinking about it. SEGUE!

A few days ago, Kevin Drew, Broken Social Scene frontman and wrangler of flashback-sparking melodies, took in a dreary night in Toronto and churned out an acoustic-driven wailer that's sure to massage your heart a bit. With a little ribbon, he attached a informational message to the track. It's below! Don't call me lazy!

""Summer Time Dues" was written and recorded off-the-cuff on a rainy night last week in Toronto.  An all too common occurrence in the summer of 2008. The song was recorded by Kevin Drew and Ohad Benchetrit at Benchetrit's studio. The next day Andrew Whiteman and some nice horn players dropped by to contribute, all in an attempt to exorcise the bad vibes and bring in some sunshine while we still can."
