Yes, the above image looks uncannily like a promo shot of ‘80s smooth rock icons Hall & Oates, and somehow the Black and White Years aren’t that far off from “I Can’t Go For That”, quite frankly. And for people who have bumped Rock 'n’ Soul Part One at more than one family cookout, we mean that as the highest of compliments. A subtle blend of Yacht Rock and ‘90s indie, the Austin-based Black and White Years crank out pop songs in the vein of Talking Heads (whose keyboardist Jerry Harrison produced the TB&WY's album) and Dogs Die in Hot Cars but with a tasty southern twang. The horns on mariachi horns “Everyone” are spot-on. Check out a couple of MP3s below…
