Though Umbrella Tree is an Nashville-based band, they vault, skip and harmonize far from Nashville's country music roots. While there are three members- they have the full group collective sound a bit like Arcade Fire meets Bodies Of Water mixed with the unconventional dramatic folk of Bowerbirds. “Schizophrenia” sounds a bit like a Russian pop song- appropriate for James Bond’s From Russia With Love. “Make Me A Priest” is as frenetic as a modern alt-rock opera. (To top it off, guitarist Zachary Gresham's weeping voice sounds like Cold War Kids' Nathan Willett. ) Unafraid to sound quirky- together Umbrella Tree collaborates to make a rare concoction of animated sound.
