DOWNLOAD: Jaymay - Grey Or Blue

The first time I heard Jaymay was 3 years ago- when the simply strummed ballad "You are The Only One I Love" came crackling through the radio on a shitty, rainy day, while I was stuck in traffic - pissed off en route to a no-name job that paid well but  killed my soul. Her voice instantly lulled me into a watch-the-rain-drops-fall-and-forget-it-all daydream and I felt like I'd found a new friend.

Months later I wrote a Flavorpill post for her show at The Living Room saying ""Evoking the spirit of a '60s Parisian jazz chanteuse, honey-voiced, Long Island-born Jaymay kicks off tonight's lineup of eclectic local talent. While certain tracks have the witty candor of Suzanne Vega, Jaymay's lilting soprano conveys a fragility and intimacy that obliges total immersion."

These days, Jaymay's busily traveling the world (recently touring with Okkervil River in the UK) and she's heading to Bowery Ballroom in NYC June 10th. So I recommend her once again- on a gray Friday, when the weekend's biting on my sleeve urging me to go out and play. Enjoy.

Sounds Like: Fiona Apple, Feist, Suzanne Vega
