At this point it’s like, why even mention when a cool ‘60s-inspired band is from Sweden, because as far as we can tell it’s a nation where all the women are beautiful and sing in husky voices about heartbreak, and all the guys have amazing hair and can wear those little Oliver Twist-style pointy shoes and not look stupid. It’s not fair.

Wildbirds and Peacedrums are from Sweden, then, and are a devastatingly good-looking duo who write soothing, laid-back songs that are carried high and far by front woman Mariam Wallentin’s lush and full baritone. The DiS blog recently posted “I Can’t Tell in His Eyes” from Wildbirds and Peacedrums’ new record Heartcore. “I can’t tell in his eyes/If he’s gone cry or if he’s gonna fight” sings Mariam in the song’s refrain. Deep!
