Car Clutch are part of the downtown NY art rock scene that is currently home to acts like Lissy Trulie, the Virgins, and Modrocket, all ringlead by creative entrepreneur A-Ron. When not manning the decks at his company Off Bowery (he also used to own downtown staple aNYthing), apparently A-Ron likes to get his inner Malcolm McLaren and provide spoken-word guest vocals on one of his new band’s tracks. “Act Neutral”, the debut single from Car Clutch, features A-Ron on vocals, but also a bunch of twiddly loops and knob-turning effects for the post punk fan in all of us. Could this be the beginning of a new no wave movement? It would be about time…
