EXCLUSIVE DOWNLOAD: The Bloodsugars - Purpose Was Again

We’ve always had a thing for sugary pop rock hits: sounds cheesy, I know, and say what you will about a band like Cheap Trick, but we don’t believe in guilty pleasures and One on One is one of the best power pop records of all time. It looks like The Bloodsugars would agree with those statements, as their debut EP BQEP (out today on Engine Room Recordings) is about as hook-laden as you can get without being “My Sharona”. It’s time to shed your inhibitions and get into “Purpose Was Again”, a chugging, catchy single carried by the sweetly soft voice of front man Jason Rabinowitz. When the chorus kicks in, you’ll be completely taken with visions of ‘90s alt. pop legends Jellyfish (specifically their 1993 LP Spilt Milk). We just might be posting more Bloodsugars stuff in the future, so keep your ears peeled.
