Classic Video: Yo! MTV Raps Returns - Ice Cube "It Was A Good Day"
For the month of April MTV is bringing back possibly it's best show ever, Yo! MTV Raps. The show is celebrating it's 20th anniversary and according to the Sucker Free Blog, MTV will be airing classic videos and interviews with Fab Five Freddy, Ed Lover and Dr. Dre along with other hilarious and amazing moments from the show. In honor of that we have posted one of our favorite hip hop videos of all time, Ice Cube's "It Was A Good Day". That green lowrider blew our minds (it still does).
They should really bring the show back for good. Could you imagine getting to see your favorite hip hop stars kicking it on the set with Ed Lover and Dr. Dre today? Kanye, T.I., Flo-rida, T-Pain, Soulja Boy... Well if those names don't excite you very much, check out these moments that we were able to dig up with a simple YouTube search. Check out some classic freestyles from the originators (KRS One, Rakim, Chub Rock) and from some of the golden age rappers (Redman, Method Man, Craig Mack, Special Ed). However, our favorite is Ol'Dirty Bastard's drunken visit to the set (although knowing Dirty, probably more than just alcohol was involved). See below...
First, see ODB at his finest and below that, peep the last show freestyles:
