Download: Cornelius - It’s All In The Timing

All good things come to those who wait. So we did and low and behold we have
two Cornelius mp3's for you to download. Back in January we caught the show that
blew us all away - so here's a little post and some music to keep it
company.
SEEN recently caught the amazing visual and sonic wizardry of all that is
Cornelius. What a lush and epic performance it was. Clockwork Orange in blue
if you please. The LA Philharmonic presented the show live and direct from
the Gehry soundstage at Disney Hall. A particularly fitting aural venue in
which the band closed out the final night of Concrete Frequency: The Urban
Experience The Art Of Music.
Cornelius is the baby of Japanese multi-instrumentalist Keigo Oyamada. Yes
he nabbed the name from the 1968 movie in which apes run shit and on stage
you couldn’t escape the fact that he can run shit too. It was a night for
the game generation to muse on music and software, and a chance to take
refuge in the dreamy landscapes that Cornelius and his band create. Watching
them live you can’t help but feel this really is the evolution of man and
computer. In a fantastic way - it’s like watching robots perform once they
got the software right. They are warm, intelligent and soulful, begging you
to join them on a journey.
Using incredible animation and other clever visual trickery the Sensuous
Synchronized Show is something to be awed at. Dabbling with Noah's arc and
the animals running for cover you get sucked into another digitized
dimension. As the animals cross the country to the cityscapes you realize
you’re on the journey already.
And then every now and then you can’t help but think... are they playing to
the movie or is the movie playing to them? It’s a wonderful experience
regardless and it’s live. To be honest the animated film is a performance in
it’s own right. This spectacular display of image and visuals is a kin to a
religious experience for some. With Keigo’s timing you can tell he’s playing
with the whole thing like a child’s toy.
Did we mention the flute?
Fantastic stuff.
