STREAM: The Duke Spirit- Lassoo

The UK outfit The Duke Spirit first grabbed our attention with their attitude-soaked garage rock Cuts Across the Land, released state-side in 2006. Then we didn't hear anything from them for a while and started to think of them a bit of a tease. By 2007, we persuaded ourselves to forget about them.

Now, out of the blue, The Duke Spirit is back-gutsy and refreshed- with an onslaught of catchy, bluesy psychedelic rock.  Just like we remembered, singer Liela Moss’s deep rasp morphes from Mazzy Starr coos to dark-edged ferocity reminiscent of Shirley Manson of Garbage. Meanwhile, in their new album Neptune, the band beasts out on vigorous electric guitar synths, minimal distortion, and biting percussion. They’ve taken good care of themselves and it shows.
