DOWNLOAD: The Felice Brothers - Frankie's Gun!

For lifetime folk aficionados such as ourselves, the Felice Brothers are something of a dream band, a rugged group simply too real to be true in these times of over-hyped bands and Next Big Things. Consisting of three actual brothers (Ian, James, and Simone Felice) and a friend named Christmas, the Felice Brothers hail from the Catskill Mountains, honed their chops playing in the NYC subway, and possess the authenticity it takes to be truly Americana. Ladies and gents, this is the real deal.

The first time we heard The Felice Brothers (at the fervent suggestion of loads of friends who had seen them perform their now legendary live shows) we instantly went on a mad dash to acquire as many of their songs as possible, the first of which turned out to be “Frankie’s Gun!”, the song we’re releasing today. It’s a story of roadside betrayal delivered in the weathered voice of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Lou Reed, propelled by a rambling organ possibly found on the floor of a rancid saloon at the turn of the 20th century.
