Not all techno producers are from Europe, but most of them certainly end up there: take Butane (aka Andrew Rasse). For years, the man threw techno parties in St. Louis, Gateway to the West, only to find himself--undoubtedly--broke and underappreciated. Therefore ... Berlin.
Alphahouse is his record label and since 2005 it has repped some of the strongest techno talent the US has churned out: Troy Pierce, Bruno Pronsanto, The Kooky Scientist, &c. Since his move abroad though it has expanded to include top-level international talents like Philippe Quenum.
Now our ex-pat is set to drop his debut album Becoming on Alphahouse March 17. We'll share some jams on there when the times comes, but for now he allowed us access to two of his previous releases, at once smooth and progressive. Sehr kühl.
