We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: a new era of great NYC bands is finally being ushered into the public consciousness. Whether it’s the smooth rock of Tigercity or Apache Beat’s percussive post-punk, NYC finally has some new, exciting music to offer. One of the newest, and most exciting, bands of this movement are Chairlift. The band recently signed to the almighty Kanine Records (home to many a brilliant Brooklynite: Mixel Pixel, Holy Hail, Grizzly Bear and Professor Murder, just to name a few) and, while having only released their 7” “Evident Utensil”, Chairlift are already garnering acclaim within the New York indie circuit. The song itself is sonically akin to forlorn Velvet Underground darling Nico attending an electro Tropicana beach party. On the moon.

Chairlift are playing a show tomorrow at Club Midway, with Apache Beat. It’s $3, which means you should definitely make it.

See you there!
