DOWNLOAD: Violens - Violent Sensation Descends

When the Miami-born, NYC-bred art-rock collective Lansing-Dreiden came out with The Incomplete Triangle, their first LP, in 2003, they pretty much changed our perceptions of what “experimental” music could be. Without assaulting the listener with white noise or mega-distorted vocals, L-D made forward thinking, intelligent psych-pop that lived just left of the center. Not only that, but there were rumors that they hired session musicians off of Craigslist to play live for them, they never did photoshoots, rarely did interviews, and self-published the literary journal Death Notice. Yup, they were pretty awesome.
While L-D are still together, they’ve been off the radar for a little bit, which has left some of the members free to do different projects. One of those projects is Violens (pronounced “VY-lenz”), who make hallucinatory, ’60s inspired pop records akin to Of Montreal imagining kicking it with the Zombies and Joe Meek back in the day. We’re releasing their first RCRD LBL single today, the bouncy “Violent Sensation Descends”. We’ve been listening to it all morning and we feel as if a void has been filled. Check it out…
