H313 EP1

Mark Pritchard's latest project has seen the addition of a "1" to his Harmonic 33 moniker, paying homage to Detroit's area code - a decision that is reflected in the opening moments of this EP, where the crisp and grit of the motor city sound slip through the seams of a track driven along by a playful Speak-n-Spell narrative. (incidentally, these clips are echoed in an actual online color-coded word game which uses the album art as clues to gain you access to a bonus track. it took some of us in the office more than one try... i won't name names).
as EP1 opens up, the bass gets thizz-face rude, digging up memories of Benga or Skream, while a tight, Dilla-esque swing keeps things moving. it's a real beast of an EP, and has left a lot of us eager for the album. to help curb your appetite, we're featuring the Mary Anne Hobbs breezeblock as a stream for your enjoyment. turn the subwoofer up and issue a pre-emptive apology to your neighbors.
