There’s a reason why “folk” music is called “folk” music: it has a generality to it, a quality that everyone can understand and enjoy. And everyone in the RCRD LBL office is enjoying Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Luke Temple right now. “Saturday People”, the single Luke is releasing today on RCRD LBL, is a quiet, uplifting song, a colorful sonic patchwork centered around Luke’s nimble banjo playing and soaring falsetto. It’s fragile like Moonpix-era Cat Power, yet possesses the audacity of someone like Hawksley Workman’s more acoustic moments—familiar yet daring. The way his voice goes into the chorus each time is just insane. Anyway, we love it. The track was recorded at Brooklyn uber-studio Monsterland. Enjoy!

The track was released on Luke’s sophomore record, the brilliant Snowbeast, on Mill Pond Records. We’re also releasing a bonus track, “Just Cause You Make It”, a beautiful waltz with a, let’s be frank, pretty spooky spoken word bit at the end.
