“It's Punk Rock with a gun to R&B's head on the Dancefloor,” says The Carps’ Myspace. The Toronto-born London-expats have a rush of rigorous, infectious urgency to their music, led by brash electro beats and raw punk guitar and rhythm cycles. Singer Jahmal Tonge’s R & B-esque vocals fluctuate from wails, punk screams to speak-rap rants. In “All the Damn Kids”, he channels Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, screeching “RAISE YOUR FLAG” on repeat. No matter country, what flag- he and Neil White are quite convincing at getting us to partake in their battle cry, especialy if it's on a dancefloor.
