Boston's Alexander Chen is nothing if not a romantic. The music he makes is moody, deep and lush. While this may not be what all the kids are raving on about, Boy in Static pulls it off. It's probably a result of Chen's production skills, his playing each instrument and his dedication to the craft.

"Where It Ends" is the lead single from last year's Violet on LA's Mush Records which was, typically, big in Japan. Chen was able to get us access to its sound, and also to a slept-on remix from the highly-underrated Helios, who adds extra ambient emphasis to the already precious melody.

Boy In Static has dates opening for the synthpop sound of Freezepop. Get there early.
