We've had a soft spot for bands like The Eagles, Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers for some time now, so when we came across the Yacht Rock video series a while back it pretty much blew our mind. Yacht Rock is a series of videos conceived by J. D. Ryznar that spoof the writing process of some of the greatest soft rock hits of the 70s and 80s. The videos feature appearances by characters like Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Steve Porcaro of Toto, and Walter Becker and Donald Fagen of Steely Dan just to name a few.

There are now 11 episodes in the series with stories about Toto working with Michael Jackson on "Right Here", Steely Dan competing with The Eagles to write the title track for the movie FM, how it took 10 years and a rap group to take Michael McDonald's "Keep Forgetting" to #2 on the chart.  The latest installment, and possibly our favorite, documents the great lengths Jimmy Buffet went through to get Kenny Loggins to write a song for Footloose (with Jason Lee playing Kevin Bacon).

Check it out above, and click here for another amazing episode. Check out their site over at Channel 101 where the whole series is available for download to your iPhone.
