As the Bird and the Bee, Inara George and Greg Kurstin have been steadily releasing some really great jazzy-indie-electro-pop over the past couple of years.  Their most recent EP, Please Clap Your Hands (Bluenote), is fun, sexy, and undeniably dancy.  One of the highlights of the record is “The Polite Dance Song”, a refined number courteously imploring the listener to engage in some naughty horizontal dancing.  Eric Wareheim, of Tim and Eric Awesome Show fame, directed the video for this cheeky number. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Mr. Wareheim’s work, it can be loosely described as absurdist, over-the-top, and off-beat comedy (click here for a taste).

What we love about this video is how well the visual elements compliment the song itself.  All too often, music video directors go for style over substance and end up with a video that seems disconnected from the song it is supposed to embody. This video however, seems to take it’s storyline from the lyrics and the end result is one of the funnier videos we’ve seen in awhile.
